Reclaim The Night March Thursday 6th December @ 6PM
We are delighted to be involved with members of the Perth Violen
ce Against women Partnership in organising this years Reclaim the Night March. RASAC-PK have been supported by OWLS, PACT, The Soroptimists and Perth Women's Aid and are delighted that workers from the Partnership will be attending and supporting the march on Thursday 6th December.
Originating in the 1970s, Reclaim the Night marches took place across the UK in response to women being told not to go out at night around the time of the murders committed by the Yorkshire Ripper. The marches represented the strong message that women should be able to walk anywhere and not be blamed or restricted due to the impact of male violence. Whilst the reality remains that women are most at risk from someone they know in their own home, this does not eradicate a risk on the streets.
Reclaim the Night takes place on Thursday 6th December with entertainment from Sophie Staniforth Music https://www.facebook.com/SophieStaniforthMusic/ refreshments being available from 5pm, Civic Hall, 2 High Street. The march will begin at 6pm. All welcome.
