What Were You Wearing? Survivor Exhibition, 2nd-3rd Dec
This installation provides a tangible response to one of our culture’s most pervasive rape myths. “What were you wearing?” This terrible myth insinuates that people’s, but especially women’s, clothing is some how responsible for sexual violence. This exhibition aims to show how absurd this concept is and how in reality the only person at fault is the perpetrator.
- The What Were You Wearing (WWYW) exhibition was created & first displayed at the University of Arkansas in 2014.
- In 2017, WWYW went viral after displayed at the University of Kansas & was covered the media.
- WWYW has been recreated on six continents thousands times since 2017. Now in Perth and Kinross.
Outfits featured in this exhibition have been recreated from the stories of survivors.
